Building Management System Maintenance And Support

Integration allows two or more different control systems (e.g. Fire & CCTV) to co-operate in a building or complex, resulting in a number of features and benefits that we discuss on this page.

The integrated technology that we use intelligently links all systems together using hardware, software and networking based on serial and IP connections. Because our approach is network-centric and driven by protocols, rather than hard-wired, we deliver more benefits at a lower cost for a faster return on investment. Full advantage is taken of existing data in connected systems and, by providing a common user interface that gives detailed and specific information, proactive and informed choices can be made when solving problems or improving efficiency.

Unified Display and Interaction

Since systems are linked by an integration layer involving networks and drivers, the user interface will be the same regardless of what is connected.
This delivers the following benefits:

Intelligent Cause and Effect

Rather than using wires and relays, safe and secure monitored networks allow for more comprehensive logic to be achieved for the purpose of cause and effect. A handful of signals from one or more connected systems can result in actions that a redistributed to many other connected systems and displays, be they Machine to Machine or Machine to Human.

Freedom of Choice

The building operator or end-user has the freedom to choose the best individual systems (HVAC, fire, CCTV, lighting, etc.) from different suppliers for each discipline without fear of being locked into one manufacturer, yet retains the ability to operate them all as one system. Effectively, customers can choose the best system from each particular discipline without the risk of compromising compatibility.

Machine to Machine

With drivers for over 250 different building systems already available in our range, as well as connectivity to all major open protocols, we can deliver dedicated, cost-effective links between fire systems, HVAC controls and security to factory controls and enterprises Software platforms.

Intelligent Integrated Networked Connectivity

Whether monitoring systems locally or remotely, via web or app, our systems deliver the intelligent information needed to make the right choices when action is required. Knowing the exact detail of an alarm from a UPS plant, fire alarm system, chiller or air conditioning unit can make the difference between sending an engineer out in the middle of the night or during the next day. Intelligence also means knowing the exact nature of the fault before leaving the office to carry out a repair. This saves time and money, and improves efficiency.

Recent Case Study

  • In data centres throughout the UK, Northern Ireland and Western Europe, Tyrrell Systems installed an integrated remote monitoring system based on the Communicator 9 integration platform and the eBMS/WebServer by Tyrrell Products. The Communicator on each site is intelligently connected to UPS systems, Air Conditioning Units, Fire Alarms, DC Plant, Generators, Metering, Leak detection and more. Our eBMS/WebServer graphical user interface and alarm reporting system operates on redundant servers with automatic failover, delivering critical information that helps the business make the best possible choices in the event of equipment failure or underperformance. Statistical data helps them increase PUE and reduce operating costs, whilst maintaining the correct conditions.
